AlphaValue Report Highlights Diverging Paths for Oil and LNG Markets
A new sector study by AlphaValue suggests global paths for oil and LNG are moving further apart, with LNG demand projected to rise beyond 2025 levels.
Independent research firm AlphaValue has published a comprehensive sector study on the liquefied natural gas market, titled "2050: A Gas Odyssey". The analysis examines shifting dynamics across global energy markets, concluding that the respective trajectories for crude oil and LNG are moving further apart.
According to the research, worldwide LNG demand is projected to expand notably beyond its forecast baseline of 422 million tonnes per year in 2025. This continuing growth highlights a structural decoupling of demand fundamentals between traditional petroleum products and gas over the coming decades.
For vessel operators, offshore contractors and technical procurement teams, this trend underscores the importance of aligning fleet capabilities with shifting energy supply chains. Ensuring reliable access to specialised gas-handling equipment, compliant marine spares and relevant engineering support will be essential as global LNG infrastructure continues to expand.
