AlphaValue Study Highlights Diverging Paths for Oil and LNG Markets
A new report by AlphaValue indicates that global energy trajectories for oil and LNG are separating, with LNG demand projected to increase from 2025.
Research firm AlphaValue has published a sector study titled "2050: A Gas Odyssey", examining the long-term outlook for the global liquefied natural gas market. The analysis indicates that the commercial paths for crude oil and LNG are set to move further apart as the wider energy sector evolves.
According to the study, international demand for LNG is forecast to climb steadily from an anticipated baseline of 422 million tonnes per year in 2025. This projected expansion reinforces the widening strategic gap between gas development and conventional crude oil assets over the coming decades.
For offshore contractors, vessel operators, and procurement teams, this diverging landscape emphasises the importance of aligning technical supply chains with gas-related infrastructure. Long-term equipment sourcing and marine asset planning will increasingly need to account for sustained activity across the LNG supply chain.
