AlphaValue Study Highlights Diverging Paths for Oil and LNG Markets

A new sector study by AlphaValue indicates that global trajectories for oil and LNG are moving further apart, with LNG demand projected to climb after 2025.

Independent research firm AlphaValue has released a comprehensive sector study titled "2050: A Gas Odyssey", examining long-term structural shifts across global energy markets. The publication highlights an increasing divergence between crude oil and liquefied natural gas, suggesting their future commercial and industrial paths are moving further apart.

According to the findings, worldwide demand for LNG is set to rise from 422 million tonnes per year (Mtpa) in 2025, driven by evolving consumption patterns and international supply adjustments. The research underlines sustained growth for the gas segment even as broader energy dynamics shift.

For offshore contractors, vessel operators, and procurement teams, this widening divide reinforces the need to balance fleet capabilities and technical sourcing. Aligning spare parts management, maintenance schedules, and equipment procurement with specialised gas infrastructure requirements will remain essential as LNG-related activity expands.
