ExxonMobil and SOCAR Sign Production-Sharing Contract in Azerbaijan

ExxonMobil and Azerbaijan's state oil company, SOCAR, have formalised their collaboration by signing a 50/50 production-sharing contract. The move marks a definitive transition from earlier joint study agreements towards a binding commercial structure for upstream energy activity in the region.

Under the terms of the equal partnership, the two operators will target unconventional oil and gas opportunities located across the Middle Kura Basin. The shift to a formal production-sharing agreement signals continuing commercial interest in evaluating and unlocking prospective hydrocarbon resources within Azerbaijan beyond its established plays.
