TotalEnergies Approves Ima Offshore Gas Field Development in Nigeria

TotalEnergies has approved the development of the offshore Ima gas field to provide feedstock for the Nigeria LNG Train 7 expansion from 2028.

TotalEnergies has officially approved the development of the Ima offshore gas field in Nigeria. The upstream project is planned to strengthen feedstock deliveries to the country's gas processing infrastructure and support expanded liquefied natural gas export capacity.

First gas from the Ima offshore field is targeted for 2028. Once active, the field development is expected to supply approximately one third of the natural gas volumes required to run the Nigeria LNG Train 7 expansion project.

For vessel operators, offshore contractors, and procurement teams tracking regional energy developments, this approval points to emerging requirements for marine logistics and technical supplies. Delivering the project ahead of the 2028 target will require offshore installation support, marine transport, and specialised procurement throughout the construction cycle.
