TotalEnergies Approves Ima Offshore Gas Field for Nigeria LNG Expansion

TotalEnergies has approved the Ima offshore gas field to supply one third of the gas required for Nigeria LNG's Train 7 expansion starting in 2028.

TotalEnergies has formally approved the development of the Ima offshore gas field in Nigeria. The project has been sanctioned to bolster regional gas production and provide a dedicated source of supply for the country's liquefied natural gas export infrastructure.

According to project details, the offshore Ima field will supply one third of the feedgas required for the Nigeria LNG Train 7 expansion. First gas deliveries from the offshore development are scheduled to commence in 2028, playing an integral role in sustaining the expanded plant's operations.

For offshore contractors, vessel operators, and technical procurement teams, the project sanction indicates sustained requirements for marine support vessels, specialized hardware, and industrial equipment over the development phase. Managing procurement timelines and supply chain logistics will be critical as upstream activity ramps up ahead of the 2028 startup.
