TotalEnergies Approves Ima Offshore Gas Field for Nigeria LNG Expansion

TotalEnergies has approved the development of the offshore Ima field to supply feedstock for Nigeria LNG's Train 7 expansion project from 2028.

TotalEnergies has formally approved the development of the Ima offshore gas field in Nigeria. The upstream project is designed to bolster gas production and secure dependable long-term feed gas for the country's expanding liquefied natural gas export operations.

First gas from the Ima field is scheduled to begin in 2028. According to project details, the offshore development is expected to supply approximately one third of the feed gas needed for the Nigeria LNG Train 7 expansion project, supporting broader capacity increases at the complex.

For offshore contractors, vessel operators, and technical procurement specialists, this sanction signals future demand for marine support and offshore equipment. Moving towards the 2028 timeline will require sustained engagement across engineering, field installation, and logistical services, providing clear scope for supply chain providers operating across the West African energy sector.
