TotalEnergies Approves Ima Offshore Gas Field to Supply Nigeria LNG

TotalEnergies has approved the offshore Ima gas field development to supply one third of the gas for the Nigeria LNG Train 7 expansion from 2028.

Energy major TotalEnergies has formally approved the development of the Ima offshore gas field, located in Nigeria. The offshore project has been sanctioned to deliver additional gas resources directly to the Nigeria LNG complex, supporting broader efforts to enhance the nation's export capacity.

First gas from the Ima development is scheduled to commence in 2028. Once fully operational, the offshore field is designated to provide one third of the feedgas needed to run Nigeria LNG's Train 7 expansion project, serving as a critical feedstock source for the facility.

For offshore contractors, vessel operators, and procurement teams, this development approval points to forthcoming requirements for marine support vessels, engineering services, and technical equipment. Delivering the offshore infrastructure ahead of the targeted 2028 startup date is expected to generate sustained demand for supply chain and logistics services in the region.
