TotalEnergies Approves Offshore Ima Field to Feed Nigeria LNG Expansion

TotalEnergies has approved the development of Nigeria's offshore Ima gas field to supply one third of the feed gas for the Nigeria LNG Train 7 expansion from 2028.

TotalEnergies has approved the development of the offshore Ima gas field in Nigeria, marking a key step in bolstering feed gas availability for the country's liquefied natural gas sector. The upstream project is set to strengthen gas supplies dedicated to international export infrastructure.

Production from the Ima field is scheduled to commence in 2028. Under the approved development schedule, the offshore asset will provide one third of the natural gas volumes required to run the Nigeria LNG Train 7 expansion project.

For offshore contractors, marine vessel operators, and technical procurement teams, the project sanction points to emerging requirements for offshore support vessels, logistics, and specialised marine equipment. Developing the field ahead of the 2028 start date will require sustained supply chain coordination across the offshore energy industry.
